The PINK elephant!!!

PINK ELEPHANT: Have you noticed that it is now common to use the term “personal branding” instead of self-promotion?
Personal branding and self-promotion are, in fact, the same.  I have come to believe that the term self-promotion is so off-putting for women that we will do almost anything to avoid it. Hence, it’s become the” pink elephant” in the room. We know it’s there and yet we don’t want to recognize its presence, hoping that somehow it will disappear. Its very existence is, in fact, threatening, overwhelming, and often scary. We’d rather dance around it rather than deal with it.
So now we call it personal branding and hope that with a new name it will be more acceptable and something that we can embrace instead of the uncomfortable concept of promoting ourselves. But I believe in calling a spade a spade. It’s still all about promoting yourself, and self-promotion remains an important key to your success as a woman in business today.
And the evidence is in. There have been a variety of studies and research that support the need for women to talk about their accomplishments in order to advance their careers, such as the Catalyst 2011 study, The Myth of the Ideal Worker: Does Doing All the Right Things Really Get Women Ahead. Intellectually, we understand the importance of differentiating ourselves and letting others know what we bring to the table. Emotionally, we get hung up in our limiting beliefs about the need to be humble and blend in, our need to be liked, our fear of rejection.
Well, it’s time to “man-up” and dance with the pink elephant. She’s not going away and your continual avoidance of her will only contribute to your lack of career and business success.
How do you dance with the Pink Elephant?
First, you need to change your mind set about promoting yourself. There were probably many things you didn’t want to learn and did anyway, right? Self-promotion is a necessary skill. (I remember how much I hated Algebra, but I realized its importance and learned it.)
Second, take the time to understand your value and what is unique about you. This is so important that I can’t stress it enough. You probably think you know what value you offer your organization, your clients, your community, your family and friends, but I would challenge you and say that unless you’ve taken some time and done some soul searching, you probably don’t know your value.
If you don’t know your value proposition, then promoting yourself will ALWAYS be uncomfortable and difficult. You will feel phony because you haven’t made the necessary connection with your unique value.
As I’ve said before, everything changes when you understand your value. You can then talk about yourself with confidence. You will speak up in meetings, voice your opinion, and take advantage of opportunities to showcase your talent.
Dance with the pink elephant. If you climb on board, you may just end up where you’ve always wanted to go!

Success..Your only option!

Any major lifestyle change requires a lot of effort. When the change you want to make involves your weight, it becomes even more difficult. Having a conversation about weight is taboo. Nobody wants to talk about their own weight and nobody wants to mention it to someone else. If you or someone you know had serious illness like cancer or diabetes people would have no problem talking about it. The fact is, obesity leads to illnesses like cancer and diabetes. It also increases the risk factors for others like stroke and heart disease. So why do people want to wait until these diseases effect you to talk about the causes and risk factors. Most don't view obesity as a disease (me included) they don't think it is worth talking about. However, because obesity increases risk factors it is just as dangerous as the disease itself. You are only person that is going to make the changes necessary to accomplish your goals. You will have ups and downs and but you will always have a support system {friends, family & me} You never will go through anything alone!

As Dr. Seuss quotes Today you are You, that is truer than true. There is no one alive who is Youer than You.”

ADVOCARE

As many of you know {friends & family} I have recently just taken the plunge with a new life style change. Advocare has been such an internal life savor for me. I decided to take the 24 day challenge after many failed, dead end attempts& wasted $ on diet after diet! Finally I did my research and talked to more then a handle full of friends...I eagerly found out that Advocare was thee one after hearing pro after pro and pro, not really hearing any negativity or con's about the product or plan! I did it! I jumped on board full force and completed the 24 day challenge! I will admit, it took 100% dedication, devotion and determination...But I had all of that, plus 1000% more! First 3 days were extremely difficult, but I kept telling myself "FAT LAST LONGER THEN  FLAVOR" {thanks to a good friend who impounded that in my head} day 4-10 became a breeze, 11-24 was becoming a habit, a habit that I really enjoyed! Day after day I became the person that was full of energy and enthusiasm! Now let me back up a couple weeks, After just the frist 3 days, I knew instantly that I just planted my feet into something I wanted to grasp my entire life around, in that short amount of time I knew instantly I  wanted to share Advocare with the world..I became a distributor only after being on the challenge for 3 days!. Now, after the challenge, I have helped more then 16 fellow friends get on the road to healthier lifestyle as well. I live my life now with much more happiness, healthier eating habits and positive choices...with an extra little perk after the detox and habit forming changes...I'm DOWN 12.2lbs and 5 inches! I now live my life with one simple word.. H.O.P.E....<<Helping other people everyday>>
Click on my link for more info...It is my goal to put a little pep in your step! I  would be more then honored to get you on the road to a pleasant and healthy life style change!

There's red then there's RED...

If you know me, there are two things I absolutely love, the first thing is a good red tube of lipstick, and a smile to go right along with it! A smile says so much about you. Did you know that we all smile in the same language? Do you also know that a smile is fitting for everyone? One SMILE fits all! Laughing is the most full-filling calorie burner, and the best thing you could ever do with your lips! C'mon I dare you to try it, step over to the closest mirror, look at yourself and put that smile on!
My most fave tube of lipstick is by "The Balm" Cosmetics. It's a plumper & I love it! My color of choice is "spike my punch" All of these plumpers  have radical names...take a peek here! Hope y'all have a most fab Thursday! XOXO
